SSC CPO

Staff Selection Commission conducts various types of exams in different government departments & ministries, among which CPO is also one the categories of exam. CPO stands for Central Police Organization. Candidates applying for SSC CPO exam get selected for SI (Sub – Inspector) and ASI (Assistant Sub – Inspector) post. SSC CPO is conducted by SSC on National level to fill required number of candidates to the post of Sub – Inspectors and Assistant Sub – Inspectors in various Central Government Police Organizations like CRPF, ITBP, CBI, SSB, CISF, BSF and SI in Delhi Police etc. Due to its National level approach, this test is taken by a large number of aspirants who wants to join these organizations on a priority basis.

Posts & Job Profile SSC – CPO

SSC CPO is the exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to select candidates to be appointed on the post of Sub Inspector.

There are list of some posts and job profile to appear in SSC CPO.

  1. Sub – Inspector in Delhi Police
  • Arrest with or without warrant.
  • For maintaining law and order, a Sub-Inspector can order unruly mob to disperse and can also use force for ensuring the same.
  • All cases of the Indian penal codes, special laws passed by parliament and local laws of states are investigated by Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors.

 

  1. Sub – Inspector in Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Protecting the border between India & Pakistan.
  • Promoting the scene of security in the citizens of India.
  • Prevent crimes across the border and refugees.
  1. Sub – Inspector in Indo – Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP)
  • Protecting the border between India & China.
  • Preventing the violation of border.
  • Providing security at northern borders that are close to Pakistan & China.
  • Preventing smuggling, anti- national activities and illegal immigration across the border.
  1. Sub – Inspector in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • CRPF is responsible for controlling riots and naxalites.
  1. Sub – Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Providing security to various government establishments, PSU and other state-owned infrastructures.
  • Protecting the Government infrastructure projects and industrial units.
  • Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police is responsible for maintaining law and order in Delhi.

  1. Sub – Inspector in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
  • Protecting Indo – Nepal and Indo – Bhutan borders.
  • Preventing cross-border crimes, smuggling, and other anti-national activities.

There are a total of 1223 vacancies for the post of SSC CPO, out of which, 592 vacancies are for the candidates of General Category, 371 vacancies for the candidates of OBC Category, 167 vacancies for the candidates of SC Category and 93 vacancies for the post of ST Category.

Eligibility Criteria for SSC – CPO

To be eligible, for this exam you have to undergo for four different stages of eligibility criteria.

  1. Age Limit
  • Minimum Age Limit: 20 years
  • Maximum Age Limit: 25 years

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ ST: 5 years
  • OBC : 3 years
  1. Educational Qualification

To apply for SSC – CPO Examination, a candidate must have a bachelor degree from any recognized university or equivalent.

Male candidates applying for the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motor cycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to undergo Physical Endurance and Standard Tests.

  1. Medical Standards Test
  • Candidate should be free from any physical defeat.
  •  Candidate must be in good mental and physical condition.
  • Candidate should posses high color vision.
  • Candidate should be without wearing glasses, and the minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction.
  • Candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes.

SSC – CPO Syllabus & Exam Pattern

SSC – CPO Exam is conducted on 2 written levels, i.e., Paper – 1 and Paper – 2. After passing these two levels, candidates have to go through a Physical Endurance Test and Personality Test/ Interview.

Paper – 1 is has 4 sections, each of which consists of 50 questions and 50 marks. Duration of 2 hours will be given to complete the paper.

Paper – 2 is based on English Language & Comprehension, and contains 200 questions for 200 marks to be completed in duration of 2 hours.

SSC – CPO Paper – 1

Paper – 1 is an Objective Multiple Choice Questions Based Online Mode Exam. This paper is divided in 4 sections, i.e., Reasoning, General Knowledge, Aptitude and English. Each section contains 50 questions which carries 50 marks. Paper – 1 is to be completed in 2 hours.

SSC – CPO Paper – 2

Paper – 2 is also an Objective Multiple Choice Questions Based Online Mode Exam. This paper has only one section of English Language & Comprehension, which contains 200 questions of 200 marks. The time – duration of/ this paper is 2 hours.

Physical Endurance Test

After clearing written test, candidates need to clear Physical Endurance Test (PET). PET consists of following components:

For Male Candidates,

  • 100 meters race in 16 seconds.
  • Long Jump: 3.65 meters in 3 chances.
  • High Jump: 1.2 meters in 3 chances.
  • Shot put: 4.5 meters in 3 chances.

For Female Candidates,

  • 100 meters race in 18 seconds.
  • Long Jump: 2.7 meters (9 feet) in 3 chances.
  • High Jump: 0.9 meters (3 feet) in 3 chances.

Personality Test/ Interview

After qualifying all these tests, candidate has to go through a final round of face – to – face interview.
