RBI Grade B Examination 2019 is a recruitment drive to select candidates for the posts of Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR: General, DEPR and DSIM in Common Seniority Group (CSG) Streams for the year 2019. RBI Grade B exam is a national level competitive test and the Reserve Bank of India Services Board conducts the test annually.
Job Profile and Vacancies of RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer

The RBI Grade ‘B’ Officers have to fulfill a number of duties. Their most fundamental work involves:
Ensuring Nation’s Financial Stability: The RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officers need to work towards keeping the inflation under check and ensure that adequate supply of liquidity of the productive sector is taken care off. This is an important factor to maintain the financial stability of the country and the RBI officers are responsible for the smooth functioning of the same.
Currency Issue and circulation: RBI issues the coins and currency and the RBI - Grade ‘B’ Officers are responsible for its circulation to the various nationalized banks under the range of RBI. They are responsible for the smooth functioning of the currency to the subordinate units of RBI and take note of the same.
Management of Government accounts: They are also entitled with managing the state and central government accounts by performing various merchant banking functions for them.

Eligibility Criteria for RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Exam
There are a set of expected eligibility criteria that you should qualify to apply for RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Exam Recruitment.
- Age Limit
- Minimum Age Limit : 21 years
- Maximum Age Limit : 30 years
For candidates with M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualifications, upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively.
- SC/ ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Physically Disabled: 10 years
- Physically Disabled + OBC: 13 years
- Physically Disabled + SC/ ST: 15 years
- Educational Qualification
There is a different set of eligibility criteria for different posts of Officer Grade ‘B’. Some of which can be stated as:
Grade ‘B’ Officer DR (General): At least 60% marks in aggregate for all semester/ years (50% for SC/ ST/ PwD) or equivalent in Bachelors’ Degree.
Grade ‘B’ Officer DR (DEPR/ DSIM): Masters’ Degree in Economics/ Econometrics/ Quantitative Economics/ Mathematical Economics/ Integrated Economic Course/ Finance, with a minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade. SC/ ST/ PwD candidates are allowed a relaxation of 5%.
- Number of Attempts
If General Category candidates have already appeared 6-times for Phase-I Exam of this post in the past, then they would be considered ineligible to apply. However, there is no such restriction in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD if the posts are reserved for them.
RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Syllabus & Exam Pattern
RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Recruitment Exam consists of 3 phases: Paper – 1, Paper – 2 and Interview.
Paper – 1 is an Objective Based Online Mode Exam. This paper is divided into 4 sections, having a total of 200 questions of 200 marks and composite time of 120 minutes.
Paper – 2 is an Objective as well as Descriptive Online Mode Exam. This paper is divided into 3 sections, where each section is of 100 marks and contains time of 90 minutes.
Interview is the last phase of selection for RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer.
RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Paper – 1/ Prelims
Paper – 1 is an Objective Based Online Mode Exam. This paper is divided into 4 sections, namely, General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability, having a total of 200 questions of 200 marks and composite time of 120 minutes.
Composite time of 2 Hours
RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Paper – 2/ Mains
Paper – 2 is an Objective as well as Descriptive Online Mode Exam. This paper is divided into 3 sections, namely, Economic & Social Issues, English and Finance & Management, where each section is of 100 marks and contains time of 90 minutes. In paper – 2, Economic & Social Issues and Finance & Management are objective papers while English is a descriptive paper.

RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer Final Phase/ Interview
After qualifying both the phases of RBI – Grade ‘B’ Officer, candidates have to go through a face – to – face Interview. This is the final phase of this exam. The qualifying marks in Interview will be as decided by the Bank.
