IBPS RRB Clerk

Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) are Indian Scheduled Commercial Banks (Government Banks) operating at regional level in different States of India. They have been created with a view of serving primarily the rural areas of India with basic banking and financial services.

The area of operation of RRBs is limited to the area as notified by Government of India covering one or more districts in the State. RRBs perform a variety of functions in following departments:

  • Providing banking facilities to rural and semi-urban areas.
  • Carrying out government operations like disbursement of wages of MGNREGA workers, distribution of pensions etc.
  • Providing Para-Banking facilities like locker facilities, debit and credit cards, mobile banking, internet banking, UPI etc.
  • Small financial banks.


Job Profile and Vacancies of IBPS RRB Clerk

There are various work and responsibilities of an IBPS RRB – Clerk. The basic responsibilities from some departments are as follows.

  • Handling receipts: Receive and acknowledge cash, drafts, cheques, pay orders and other instruments.
  • Handling withdrawals: Passing and paying out cash payment of withdrawal forms, cheques, etc.
  • Handling mails and delivery: Acknowledging inward mails, preparing outward mails and managing the delivery of cheque books.

Eligibility Criteria for IBPS RRB – Clerk Exam


There are a set of expected eligibility criteria that you should qualify to apply for IBPS RRB – Clerk Exam Recruitment.


  1. Age Limit
  • Minimum Age Limit : 20 years
  • Maximum Age Limit : 30 years

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Physically Disabled: 10 years
  • Physically Disabled + OBC: 13 years
  • Physically Disabled + SC/ ST: 15 years

  1. Educational Qualification

A candidate must possess the minimum qualification of Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government of India.


IBPS RRB Clerk Syllabus & Exam Pattern

IBPS RRB Clerk exam is conducted in 2 phases: Paper – 1 and Paper – 2.

Paper – 1 is an Objective Based Online Mode Exam. Paper – 1 has 2 sections, which contains 40 questions each and are of 40 marks. This paper has composite time duration of 45 minutes.

Paper – 2 is also an Objective Based Online Mode Exam. Paper – 2 has 5 sections, which carries 40 questions each to be done in composite time duration of 2 hours. Paper – 2 is of 200 marks.


IBPS RRB Clerk Paper – 1/ Prelims

Paper – 1 is an Objective Based Online Mode Exam. Paper – 1 has 2 sections, General Reasoning and Numerical Aptitude, where both the sections are of 40 marks each and contains 40 questions. Paper – 1 has composite time – duration of 45 minutes.

Paper – 2 is an Objective Based Online Mode Exam. Paper – 2 has 5 sections, General Reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, English/ Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge, where each section contains 40 questions to be completed in composite time of 2 Hours. Paper – 2 as a whole is of 200 marks.
